1. School Introduction:

School Community Background

Siddhalek Rural Municipality Ward No. 3 (formerly Salang Village Development Committee’s Wards No. 1, 2, and 3) has a primary school located in the middle of the densely populated Tol Basti area. Although the majority of the parents served by this school are Magar, there is a diversity of ethnicities such as Newar, Jogi, Kami, Sarki, Damai, Brahmin, etc. It is difficult to state the exact number of households that reside in this area, but it is estimated that there are around 40,000 people residing in approximately 730 households. All parents in this area are engaged in agriculture or other traditional occupations, with only a few owning small businesses.

As all the farmers in this area practice subsistence farming, their standard of living is poor. Without the development of agriculture, it is not possible to achieve overall development in Nepal. With this in mind, the school is planning to establish an agricultural subject related class that will accommodate 600 students in the future. This will be a vocational school that will provide practical agricultural education and contribute to the internal resources of the school. The school intends to expand and develop into a full-fledged vocational school.

Service Area

This school’s service area includes the following densely populated areas: Aamkot, Jhalaundi Tar, Daharegaun Jhalaundi, Tarevir, Ratamata, Chhap, Dhojeni, Paderi, Chalise, Tinkhade, Basant, Kamalbari, Duwathok, Maidan, Bahunathokar Bajhobari. All of these areas are considered part of this school’s service area.

Details of the program

The school has prepared a program framework that includes a comprehensive discussion of identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the school’s stakeholders, such as teachers, students, parents, school management committee, and teacher-parent associations, over a two-day workshop. The program also outlines the annual goals, methods of achieving them, and how to organize the achieved resources for the school within the next five years.
